- I turned 33 yesterday. I’m still a little traumatized, but I’m recovering nicely. The boys were PUMPED about my birthday. Apparently the next best thing to their own birthday is the birthday of a parent! I got some fun gifts; Heather made a really cool scrapbook of my Biggest Loser experience which was very cool. I knew she’s been working on something for me for months, but I didn’t know what. Noah found one of his toys that he wanted to give me (and take back after I opened … he might not fully get the concept). All three boys wrapped their gifts for me and made cards; I love it! Caleb got me a Sony PSP game, Star Trek Tactical Assault (sweet!), Micah got me the newest Shatner Star Trek novel (I’ve been coveting that one for a while), my parents gave me some Amazon gift certificates which I promptly blew on a HD movie (Waterworld) and the complete Star Trek Animated Series dvd set (apparently I’m in a Star Trek zone right now), and my in-laws gave me some money that I blew on some paintball gear (I now have a full auto machine gun of a paintball marker that I’m dying to wreck some people with). We went out to Applebees for dinner, which had my boys freaking out because they worried the people would forget to sing Happy Birthday to me. Sheesh!
- I just noticed that there are now 1921 approved comments on my blog! WOW. There has also been over 1300 spam comments caught by askimet (sweet), which all translates to a lot of activity! I get a kick out of it since I never dreamed there would be that much discussion on a blog that’s only been around since January! I was thinking about having a contest for the 2000th comment, but haven’t decided yet – although I’m running out of time to make up my mind!
- There is still no baby yet! Heather is a few days late now, which isn’t too unusual for us. Micah and Noah were both two weeks late and Caleb was one week late, so we may have an August baby … follow my twitter for the latest updates on the baby. When he finally shows up I’ll be able to post a photo within minutes with my cell phone onto my twitter. Here’s my twitter feed/page: Matthew’s Twitter.
- I watched the movie Jumper the other day. It was cool … kinda. Here was my problem with it – I didn’t overly care about the “hero” of the movie. Hayden’s character was so selfish and full of himself, using his power to steal, live flamboyantly and selfishly find and use women did not do much to endear him to me. The only reason I wanted him to win was because of just how evil and disturbing the villian was. I should have wanted him to win because I like him, not because I was disgusted with the bad guy. Oh well. Good idea, just not all the way there.
