Tending the Temple week 2 results!

tending-the-temple-new-year

Week two has flown by!  You guys are still plugging away and that’s AWESOME.  I know there was some disappointment that week two did not have the same kind of results as week one, but those big drops reflected water weight loss, not just fat – this week was probably a more realistic number of actual fat being worked off!  Just to remind you all, 1-2 pounds a week for a woman and 2-3 pounds a week for a man is GREAT weight loss in the real world!

Our Biggest Loser of the week, with a 2.86% loss, is Jodi B!!!  Awesome work!  We actually had two others in the 2% club; Rodney W. with a 2.12% and Loren G. with a 2.09% loss!  You guys rock!

Our 1% Hall of Fame this week includes (in no particular order) …  Christina B, Joel S, Tina B, Heidi T, Karla B, Sam H, Tony R, Thomas P, Tracey W, Scott T, Jana S, Lisa J, Rebecca B, Jake F, Teresa, Jeanette P, and Kelsey C!  Keep it up!

If you haven’t gotten your weight to me yet, you can still send it on in!  The accountability is good for you!

  1. Hi everyone,
This has been my first week and thank you all for welcoming me. It has been mainly a 'downer' week because of this killer ear infection I've developed. I've never had one so this is a brand new experience for me…just ask Karla the crazy things I did (or didn't) do today!
Again, thank you all for having me on board 🙂

  2. Kim…my legs are so sore today just from working out to my walk away the pounds video yesterday and today. I can't imagine how I would feel after a spinning class. I probably wouldnt be able to walk after that. I drank so much water this morning when I worked out. I kept getting thirsty during my workout.

Karla….I know you are in total shock that I have worked out two days in a row, but I tell you, my jar of workout shame had better never have any money in it. Because if it does then that means I didnt work out like I should have and had to pay my jar of shame money. lol

  3. Or maybe I should reverse that and pay my jar of joy workout money each time I work out. That way I will have some money to buy new clothes when I get to small for the clothes that I currently have. What is everyone's opionion. Which way should i do it? Have a jar to put money in for each work out I do or a jar to put money in for each workout I dont do?

  4. HAHHA how much can you afford? Then will you pay by the hour or will you be on salary…same amount no matter how much you work out. My suggestion is $1/hr. That will accrue fast enough that you can get some decent rewards out of it come weigh in time. Now you might want to add a trick in there that if you don't work out then the money comes out and you actually have to give it away or something….but that is up to you!

  5. Kim, I like that idea. I was thinking a dollar for every workout. So if I work out twice in one day, then it would be two dollars. (Like we all now that won't happen. I am doing good to just work out once). And I also like the idea of taking money out if I dont workout. hmmmm who should I have to give it to if I dont work out? That is the question. Maybe my hubby or kids?

  6. I wish I could do spin class but without giving TMI I'm MORE than saddle sore. I walk funny I'm so sore and it ain't just my tush that hurts. It's that whoe area from front to back including the pelvic bone. I cannot get through a whole class because even sitting on a towel hurts bad. I don't know how you survive doing it!

  7. Oh Rebecca, I am sorry I am laughing at the visual and only because I KNOW exactly what you are talking about. Was this your first class?

Here is the other thing I discovered…as much as doing the standing climbs hurts…it is good to stand up from time to time. Also, my Y has 2 seats that are bigger and ummm are have little holes in teh seats that are made for woman specifically. That helps HUGELY!! I only use teh other seats if I absolutely have to….but I get there extra early to get one of these "good"seats

Oh and you grow callouses or something gets used to it I promise….besides teh soreness….wasn't it a GREAT workout?

  8. Anne I too love the idea of paying the jar.. I also think that your should tell your hubby that he can have the money from the jar on the days you don't work out.. that will motivate you.

Nancy.. oh yes.. remember next time the coffee goes IN the microwave not on top! It wasn't magic! LMAO

  9. Yes everyone…I put my coffee cup on TOP of the microwave not IN the microwave to get reheated. I came back after it dinged and I was like…where did the coffee cup go!?
I forgot to put the coffee cup INTO the microwave.
This infection is throwing me for a loop!

  10. So for the 2nd day in a row I resisted McD's… I actually flipped the arches off as I passed. I went home and had a frozen meal instead. However I wanted some garlic bread but healthy. You probably all do this but I got the idea from a past weight watchers meeting. I eat Village Hearth break, 80 calories for 2 slices or 1 bun. I take a bun, put EVOO or olive oil Pam on it and sprinkle with garlic salt. I put it under the broiler and bamm! instant healthy garlic bread.

Kim…woohoooo…I love it when I find new (old) clothes to wear in my closet!

So…here's my little victory from this afternoon…we went to the movies and my sister had popcorn loaded with butter and Ron had popcorn (no butter). One on each side of me. I had Coke Zero and not even ONE bite of popcorn!!! Woohooooooo!!!!!!

By the way…I love the reward jar idea! Very good.

I walked around in a bad mood all day Wednesday because my jeans were SOOO tight. How do you lose 10 lbs and your jeans get tighter? I just realized this morning that the jeans I thought I was wearing were in the laundry and the ones I was actually wearing were a size smaller! Suddenly I don't feel so bad! LOL

Karla- sent you a fb request.

  18. Okay, how is everyone, I have been slacking in the workout department, trying to unpack more of the boxes from our military move. It's been a year now and still have lots of boxes. I think that exercise with having the jar for working/ and not working out will work for me. One jar for when I work out will go toward a treat for me(Jillian's new DVD's) and a jar for when I don't work out-will go toward helping some one else with their fitness goal. I'll do it starting today and backtrack to Jan 6 when this goal started. I don't think I'm going to like seeing the exercise jar being empty. (That will show shame on me, and that I did not take out time for me. Everyone have been doing a great job. I'm enjoying reading the entries with some many people this time. And Kim I bought a 20lb vest as a reward to myself from the last challenge and wore it as the biggest loser finale played going up and down the steps during the commercials with the vest on. I huffed and puffed but I finished it. All I could envision was I had lost more than that and would not want to put that weight back on again. It was hard-put it is a reminder for me. I walked a mile in that vest Thursday and it was still hard. Later I would like to add ankle and hand weights to equal the weight I will drop-like one of the biggest loser episodes- to serve as a reminder and somehow do something else to compensate for inches when the scale does not move. Like I said exercise is rough for me right now because I say when more of the boxes are unpacked I will do it but I'm writing in my book that Exercise is not Negotiable—-And to be like Nike–Just DO It. Rebecca keep logging your exercise, I'm encouraged by it.

I have always used myspace and facebook is a little hard for me to figure out…I just really need to find more time to sit down and explore it.

I love reading these posts….you-guys are so funny (Nancey:) ) , but I do hope that ear infection clears up soon.

  21. Good afternoon everyone! I just requested to join the facebook group. I'm excited to see you guys all over there.

I've enjoyed reading and am proud of so many of you! You are all fightin against so many temptaions! Congratulations! I am lucky to have a wonderful friend because last night she called me to go to dinner and a movie. She wanted to go to Outback, but I couldn't find anything healthy to eat there on their website, so she was willing to change her mind and go to Ruby Tuesday's where I can get the salad bar and a bowl of soup! It worked out wonderfully and then when we got to the movies I was full from the great dinner so didn't even think about caving for the popcorn even though it smelled GREAT!

I love the workout jar idea. I might have to start that too. I'm very impressed by those of you who can work out more then once a day. I'm no so sure I will ever get to that point. I try to work out at least 4 – 5 times a week, but that is about it for me (at least for now).

When I loose a little bit more I'm going to have to try picking up the weight I have lost. I remember watching those challenges on BL and I'm always blown away by how the contestants can carry 50+ pounds! Those of you picking up 20 and 30 pounds are definitely strong!

  23. I just realized after reading matt's results again I was on the 1% list LOL I didn't know I made even one percent. Wow cool. :o) This week should show a good number I hope because it's MY first week for real weight loss I think. I'm doing laps right now in the pool…homework from the instructor. She says to do 200, 200, 200. Two hundred in our gym pool is 8 laps, so I'm doing 24. Then I did two laps of frog legs. Sounds wierd but it really works out the inner thigh. I'm starting to feel really great again.

Tonight, I went to a friends for dinner. We were making homemade pizzas. Bring your favorite topping stule. SO I brought veggies. Umm yeah….before I knew it, EVERYTHING was loaded on teh pizzas….sausage, pepperoni, ham plus teh vegggies….and I dont think I have ever seen so much cheese on a pizza before. Fortunately, I had 1100 calories available for the evening….I think I might have gone over!!!

  27. I will be honest, I am dreading Tuesday. As of now I have only lost 1 pound. I hate when I hit that time and the scale slows down. Come on damn scale. Still keeping up with my goal of doing 1 hour of cardio a day. Maybe I need to increase it to and hour and half. We shall see. My knee is so swollen, it does not like me doing this hour of biking.

  28. I can't believe how the scale goes when I weigh in every single day. One day I'm up three pounds, the next I'm down. Even if it's the same time each day and with the same clothes (or nothing!) on. So I try to only do it once a week. I'll be honest, I catch myself two or three times a week doing it but I only count the one on Tues. I can't wait to see what it says this Tues!

  29. I only weigh myself once a week. If I weigh any more often I kinda freak out if I haven't lost or if it looks like I gained any. I really try to stay away from the scales until tuesday mornings unless I have a real good reason to weigh before then.

I hope everybody had a good weekend.

  30. Hi Everyoone!

Rebecca, Jeanette and Lisa – I hate getting on the scale because my emotions get all tied up in it…SO I have LEARNED the hard way to WAIT until Tuesday then get on. One day a week is hard enough on the emotions.

Keep in mind if you are consistent in your efforts it WILL eventually show up – Let's keep on eating healthy and exercising so we will all have a loss on Tuesday together! K?

So – I traveled from ME to IN last week for 3 days – home exhausted continued to work and I still MADE time to exercise 4 times this week…I am so proud of myself. I have been doing the Jillian "Shred" video 30 min and then treadmill for 30 min right after. It's a killer but I'm praying it works. I fly to IN again Tues-Fri for a conference where the food is set out for us…this is NOT good! Any suggestions anyone?

I do plan on going to the hotel gym every night for 1 hour! I have learned to LOVE the recumbant (?) bike – the sit down one. We are thinking of buying one but they are like $1000. YIKES.

Do you all email Matt with the weight loss for the week or actual weight and #'s lost? I send everything and don't know what is the right thing to send. HELP!

Hope to hear from you all soon. I can't be on facebook at work so I can only connect to you wonderful ladies here so I will look forward to hearing from you all soon!

I have just a page I send him…it list start weight and each weigh in amount. I do that because I keep a word document and this way it is just a copy and paste from it.

  32. I send him current weight, last weigh in weight, and total #'s lost. I think I like Jeanette's idea about keeping it on a word document, I will probably start doing that.

I isn't even 6:30 am and I have already walked a mile and a half this morning. I have to get more exercise in so I figure if I start doing it first thing in the morning…I will have it out of the way and nothing can interfere with it later.

    I hope everyone has a great Monday:) 🙂 🙂

  34. Good morning all. Well, it was a good last few days for me. I have eaten right and I did manage to exercise 4 times since Thursday. I didn't exercise this morning because I went to bed with a very nasty headache last night. But when I get home from work at 3:30 I will be working out then. I will not give in on my exercising. They only way I will is if I am sick and can't get out of bed. lol

So, I have 4 dollars in my jar for exercising. I am proud of myself because I hate to exercise. My hubby and I bought Bob's bootcamp video over the weekend. I won't be using it for a while until I get more used to working out. But my hubby used it and said it gave him a good workout. He is in great shape too and it was a bit challenging for him.

Well, weigh in day is tomorrow and I am not sure how much I will lose, but anything is better than gaining. Since I just started working out this week, I hope that I see some weight loss this week. Good luck to everyone!!!!!!

  35. Good morning everyone.. I had quite the weekend. I did manage to step on the scale and I was down 3.2 so hope for more by tomorrow but I will take the 3.2. Well my son managed to climb out of his crib yesterday afternoon and fractured his arm on the fall. We spent all night at the ER and got home at 9:30. He slept well thank God, gotta love tylenol with codine. We are waiting for the ortho doc to call but they are pretty sure he will need surgery as soon as Wednesday. Ugh.. What a thing to happen. My baby is only 17 months old. So I didn't eat all that well at 9:30, had a whopper because we hadn't eaten since 11am so it was only my 2nd meal so I hope it doesn't do too much damage.

    Have a good day.

  38. Hi everyone,
I am also dreading jumping on the scale on Tuesday…but it'll be ok.
My weekend could have been much much worse…..but I managed to get water in and walk around downtown Toronto–the most exercise I've done in a long time. I'm going to hit the Wii Fit tonight and see where that goes.
I honestly need to get enough sleep in–right now, I'm not resting properly. I've heard that sleep can really help with weight loss. Other than not being concious to stuff your face (lol), how does it help…..anyone know?
Sending you all skinny vibes for tomorrow ~*~*~*
