Sunday was a fun and busy day! We finished our HABITS series last week so this Sunday we tackled the sacraments (baptism and communion). Chris Z taught the high school group and I was with the middle school students. I’ll be honest, I had a blast teaching them. We had some great discussion and spent some time talking about the history behind each of the sacraments. Neither were new to the Jewish Christian, but Christ did reveal the deeper meanings behind both practices. Sometimes it can be easy for us as believers, going to church, to get so used to seeing baptisms and doing communion that we forget to think about all that goes into them and the importance of both in God’s eyes. Some great follow up ideas would be to read Luke 22 and talk about communion – ask your child to explain it to you. Also, check out some passages on baptism and talk about what they mean and what they tell us. Some great ones to start with would be Mark 1:7-8, Luke 3:3, Matthew 28:18-19, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-4 and Colossians 2:11-12.
