Update from Jamaica!

Time is FLYING by here on the Jamaica mission trip! Yesterday we had the thrill of completing the house, dedicating it and giving the keys to Sheriffa and her children. It was a powerful and emotional time.

Since arriving, we have been going nonstop. Early, early morning breakfasts. Working all day in incredibly hot and humid conditions. Getting back in time for a brief dip in the pool, then dinner and group devotional time. We’re working our way through every passage referencing Christ and prayer – we’ve had some pretty amazing conversations already.

We’ve also been incredibly blessed in some very practical ways. We’ve been here five days now and no one has gotten sick, no one has had any health issues, and our team is enjoying incredibly unity. After three long days of heavy work on the house, with all the tools, and lugging, and lumber and everything else, we came away with no injuries! Praise God for keeping us safe!

Today we went to a Jamaican church, and then got some hard earned down time at a local beach before jumping back into ministry Monday morning. During the upcoming week we will be working in different orphanages and children’s homes, as well as doing some practical stuff here at the YWAM base.

I’ve uploaded a bunch of photos to our student ministry facebook page (where I’ve also been giving additional updates, as well as updates on our twitter feed); you can find them here!
