Okay, so I gotta admit. I was totally looking forward to this episode, and it did not disappoint! Maybe I’m biased, but I absolutely love the twist of having the top man and woman from the people sent home come back and rejoin the game. Granted, I was a little put off when Ali said it was the first time in Biggest Loser history … besides the fact that the idea originally happened in the Austrailian version, I happened to be one of the six brought back in the same kind of twist!
All that to say, I was absolutely amazed at Ali’s results! Sent home only a few weeks into the game with 34 pounds lost, she went on to almost double her weight loss in the following weeks on her own! With 67 lbs gone now, she not only reentered the game … she entered as one of the leaders of the pack and a very real contender for the title! I say that because of the timing of this season; normally they would have eight or nine months to lose the weight before the final weigh in (like we did in season three). However, this time around it’s significantly shorter because this season was a late addition to the calendar, and then it was bumped up because of the writer’s strike. Consequently, while the big dawgs might have the potential to finish their weight loss journey with a higher percentage of weight loss than Ali … they might not have enough time to pull it off by the finale.
More importantly, I think an important message went out to the viewers last night: it’s possible to have Biggest Loser results AT HOME. Ali came back ahead of just about everyone there … and she did it from home. She made it a priority, she put in the work and she got the results. To me, it is far more inspirational to see her results, and the results of some of the other contestants who only had one or two weeks on the ranch! It shows that it truly is possible!
