Sunday Recap | August 24

Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for August, 24th, 2025!

We opened the hour with a game I made called Last One Standing: Back to School; it’s a fun elimination game where kids competed to see who could name more things from a prompt about school without repeating each other or delaying too long.

We had a few announcements/reminders:

  • Small Groups are kicking off with our Block Parties on August 27th (Middle School) and August 28th (High School), 6:30-8:00pm.
  • The Fall Retreats are coming! The high school retreat is September 5-7, the middle school retreat is September 19-21. You can register for one or both retreats here.
  • Baptisms on the Retreats: students who want to be baptized on their fall retreat need to let us know ahead of time. Send me an email or call the church office so we can make it happen; families of students being baptized are invited to come to the retreat on Sunday morning if they want to be there for it!

I taught our high school students this week, Eden Foester taught middle school. Both groups were in the first of four weeks in 1 and 2 Timothy, with this week’s lesson title “Never Too Young.” We looked at 1 Timothy 4:11-16. Here are a few follow-up questions to ask your kids this week:

  • Who in your life looks to you as a model or as an example?
  • How does it feel when someone dismisses or disregards you because you’re a teenager? What are some right ways to respond to this kind of treatment, and what are some wrong ways?
  • Why is integrity important for a follower of Christ?
