New Year’s Resolutions

Ug.  I’m not really a fan of New Year’s Resolutions.  They seem more like a way for people to set themselves up for failure and then feel bad about themselves when they don’t succeed.  On the other hand, I do kinda like the idea of having some goals for the year, which is probably just a fancy way of saying resolutions.  What do you guys think?

And yup, I discovered I could create polls.  Look at that, we’re only a few days into 2009 and I’ve already learned something new!

  1. Matt, My goal for this year is to simply continue what I started last year by steadily increasing my workouts and there intensity. Today, I ran. I did 75 minutes on the treadmill in 2 different sets. In the first set, I played with running a bit to see if I could do it. Then I went and did some weight stuff and came back to the treadmill determined to try some sprinting stuff for at least 5 min. I ended up doing almost 30 minutes of 30 sec sprints with 30 sec rests in between. Once I started I couldn't stop because I said I was gonna spend 2 hours at the gym…and outside of this I already did everything I know to do…so it was keep going or quit early. I chose not to quit!

  2. I've set some goals that I'm really excited about this year. I even put them in my blog for the whole world to see — talk about putting it out there. I've been trying to shift my focus from my extreme self-focused "I want to be beautiful" goals to focusing on being healthy so that I can better serve God and others.

  3. Hi Matt! This year I will succeed because I am not dieting I am going to eat healthy and exercise to be a good steward of the temple that was entrusted in me……the end result will a great weight loss and more physical ability to devote to others in need. I'm also sending in my photo on Monday for your competition…watch out everyone here comes the competition! No really I just want to be part of the group so we can encourage each other.
