Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for February 8th, 2026! In honor of the Winter Olympics we played Over Under Cold Medal, a game I made. We gave away Renew Student Conference t-shirts to the winners! In a fun twist, Ezra and I plotted ahead of time for him to be chosen; he memorized the answer to one super specific question, right down to the milliseconds. It was hilarious when several girls actually gasped when he was exactly right!
We had a few announcements/reminders:
- Don’t miss small groups this week! Middle School on Wednesday, High School on Thursday, both 6:30-8:00pm.
- The Renew Student Conference is coming! It’s going to be absolutely amazing this year with amazing teaching, great worship, and America’s Got Talent winner Dustin Tavella performing Friday night! More information here.
We continued with our third of four weeks in Isaiah; while both middle school and high school are covering Isaiah, each series is different. I taught high school, Rebekah taught middle school. Here are the summaries and follow up questions you can ask your student(s):
High School: Isaiah: The Suffering Servant | Choose Trust. We explored Isaiah 50:4–9, where the Suffering Servant willingly obeys God even when obedience brings pain, humiliation, and loss. We learned that Jesus did not suffer by accident, He chose obedience, trusting God even when it was costly. The message emphasized that real faith can feel heavy at times, but that weight is worth carrying when it comes from following God. We were challenged to see that trusting God doesn’t mean pretending pain doesn’t exist. Instead, it means deciding ahead of time to follow God when it’s uncomfortable, unpopular, or difficult. Will you trust God when faith costs you something? Here are some follow up questions you can ask your student(s):
- What part of the message about trusting God when it’s hard stood out to you most?
- Where do you feel pressure right now to take the easy path instead of the faithful one?
- What’s one decision you could make now that would help you trust God when things get harder later?
Middle School: Isaiah: Experiencing God in Real Ways | Proof Positive. Drawing on Isaiah 43:1-7, Rebekah focused on how much God promises to be with us through even the most difficult, fear-raising moments in life. We have the ability to decide how we will respond to these moments, and God’s love can fuel our confidence during life’s biggest storms. Here are some follow up questions you can ask your student(s):
- How can our family do a better job of trusting God regardless of our circumstances?
- Where does our family find security?
- How might our relationship with Christ affect our fears—or our response to our fears?
