Tending the Temple week 6 results!

It’s week six and we are halfway through!  You guys are doing great – I know some of you get discouraged from time to time, and you wonder if you’re doing enough or not.  Here’s the reality: if you’re losing even a fraction or even just staying the same, that’s an improvement.  That’s a positive change.  Yes, we’re having fun with a competition, but the bigger picture is getting healthy and improving your life and you are doing it!

With that said, our Biggest Loser of the week and only 1% superstar is Rebecca with a 1.22% loss!  Great work, Rebecca!

Here’s your weight loss tip for the week … no Halloween candy!!!  If you haven’t bought it yet, then get something like little toys or play doh (they make Halloween size versions).  If you are giving away candy, bag up all the leftovers at the end of the night, throw it in a bag and donate it to your local youth or children’s program.  Whatever you do with it, get it out of the house so it’s not sitting there waiting for you to have a weak moment!

  1. I was on almost a two week unplanned "vacation" from dieting and really exercising (the result of discouragement from not really moving down much on the scale) and well, you can guess the damage that came from that. I can certainly see how easy it is to fall off the wagon and how easy it is to gain weight! Needless to say, I'm done moping about it… I'm back on the wagon, ready kick some butt. One of my goals is certainly to stay away from the Halloween candy this week… anytime I want a piece of candy, the plan is to find a piece of fruit instead!

  2. PS – Congrats to Rebecca… you're my inspiration for the week!

  3. started a food journal. The first two days worth just may send me screaming into the night. Calories are way over, carbs are way over and the sodium. I keep looking at that number and looking at that number. It can't be THAT bad, can it?

Oh yes it is. 3x my goal. Unbelievable. Guess I have some serious re-working to do.

    Yeesh.

  4. Congrats Rebecca. Fruit is definitely a natural sweet. Hang in there everybody and give you personal best. Keep moving forward.

  5. P. S Jay have you tried logging your food in the sparkspeople. They even have suggestions for you weight and exercise and nutrition all in one place. That may help you plan out some meals and it also gives suggestions for meals, that can help you get on track.

  6. WOOHOO! That was my goal, to be BL of the week one week. Feels great, thank you! On the Halloween candy, we are only letting our kids have ten of their favorite pieces they pick. The rest gets donated. And those ten pieces each (that's thirty since I have three kids) are being hidden by my hubby so I am not tempted. Only HE can give them candy. I am NOT falling off a wagon, car, plane, anything. I am SO close to a huge huge personal goal… 239. Prebaby/marriage weight. After that, my next goal is 199! If I did the math right and still lose 3 pounds a week I will be around 215 by the last day of the year. Ultimately, I will be at my goal weight of 165 by April or May. Although I have to say I don't care about the number as far as pound wise, I more care about how I look. Not sure if 165 is okay for me or too skinny, I'll just have to see. Keep up the good work everyone. If you fall off, like my accountability partner has this week, it's really okay. TODAY IS TOMORROW!!!!!!! We can get back on.

  7. Yeah this week sucked pretty much for me. I did ok on eating, but sucked on exercise. I basically let the emotional crap I am dealing with in my life, take me out of half of the game. So…to combat that…I asked a friend to work out with me (at the same time, ride together type thing) just to motivate me to get to teh gym. THank GOd for a great support network of people who love me and really want to see me succeed!!

  8. I wonder if once in a while you eat junk but stay under your calories if it's okay? I just had chicken nuggets (Tyson) for 280 caloires in my salad. OMG it was good!!

  9. Ok so this week I don't think I'm going to lose much, if anything. Since my sinus infection I haven't worked out nearly as much as I normally do. I'm eating "okay" but wasn't writing it down so I've probably gone over a bit. I hope everyone's had a better week than me. At least I know I will do better next week now that I'm on anti-biotics.
