Sunday Recap | October 26

Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for October 26th, 2025! We opened the hour with Mind Reader: Halloween, a game I made. Basically, one student comes to the front, answers ten questions … and everyone else tries to guess what they answered! I always get a kick out of it.

We had a few announcements/reminders:

  • Costume Night at Small Groups this week! Wear your costumes – we have prizes for our favorites! Middle school is on Wednesday, high school on Thursday, 6:30-8:00pm.
  • One Incredible Night is coming! November 21, 6-8 grade, $30, 7pm-midnight, signup by November 19. Are you ready for the ultimate late night party? Mechanical Bull, Inflatables, Black Light Karaoke Room, Photo Booth, Pool Tables, BINGO, late night snacks & more! Tons of prizes! Bring friends – we want this to be an amazing middle school outreach event! Register here for the event!

I taught our high school students this week, Melissa Stein taught middle school. The high school group was in the first of three weeks in a series from Coleader called And Justice for All, middle school was in the first of three weeks in a series I wrote called Jeremiah: The Weeping Prophet. Yes, if that sounds familiar … it’s the same two series we did the last three weeks, but flipped for the age groups.

Jeremiah: The Weeping Prophet: When God called Jeremiah to speak truth to His people, Jeremiah’s first reaction was, “I’m too young!” But God reminded him that He had known and chosen him before he was even born, and promised to give him the words and courage he needed. We talked about how God still calls and equips students today to make a difference right where they are. Age doesn’t disqualify them; it just gives them a unique voice to use for God’s purposes. Here are some follow up questions you can ask your high school student(s):

  • Why do you think Jeremiah felt too young to do what God asked him to do?
  • Can you think of a time when you felt unqualified or nervous to do something good or right?
  • What’s one small way you can “stand” for God this week; at school, with friends, or at home?

And Justice for All: This series explores three times that Jesus healed people who many would have considered unworthy and challenges students to offer the same type of compassion to others. This week Eden taught on the story of Jesus healing the unclean woman. The big idea was that Jesus came to bring justice to the lost cause. Here is a follow up question you can ask your middle school student(s):

  • Have you ever been in a situation where you judged someone too quickly? What did you learn from it?
