The beginning of Acts chapter eight has an incredible piece of the early church history; because of severe persecution Christianity finally spread from Jerusalem. Quite a thought, that God used something so horrific to accomplish something so great. And yet, often times that scenario becomes true in our lives – that as we comfortable we start missing out on what we are called to do. Thankfully God can use even the worst of occurances for His glory. I also used a great clip from the Skit Guys’ new DVD, put together by Youth Specialties, You Teach Vol. 1. It’s a great resource full of hilarious and deep clips. I used the “World vs. Christian: Prayer” clip to illustrate the point that sometimes we’re so wrapped up in what we want to do that we miss what God is leading us to. Anyway, here’s the audio to the sermon. It’s actually a short one; between honoring graduates and having a communion service, there wasn’t a whole lot of time left for preaching!
