Sunday Recap | August 31

Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for August, 31st, 2025!

We opened the hour with a game I made in honor of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement called Quote Clash: Tay or Trav?; it’s a fun game where kids try to decide whether a quote on screen came from Swift or Kelce. It was more challenging than you might think!

We had a few announcements/reminders:

  • Small Groups are in regular mode this week with middle school on Wednesday and high school on Thursday, 6:30-8:00pm.
  • While the majority of the high school students are on the retreat next weekend, Student Quest will still happen as a combined group in the Loft with our new time at 10am!
  • Baptisms on the Retreats: students who want to be baptized on their fall retreat need to let us know ahead of time. Send me an email or call the church office so we can make it happen; families of students being baptized are invited to come to the retreat on Sunday morning if they want to be there for it!

I taught our high school students this week, Matt Spanakos taught middle school. Both groups were in the second of four weeks in 1 and 2 Timothy, with this week’s lesson title “The Problem with Stuff.” We looked at 1 Timothy 6:2b-12. Here are a few follow-up questions to ask your kids this week:

  • What are some ways to know if our priorities are inconsistent with God’s priorities when it comes to our stuff?
  • What stuff do you have that might be better utilized if it were donated?
  • How can we as a family have better attitudes toward our possessions and toward our finances in general?
