This morning, students heard from members of our church’s Special Needs Ministry. The team shared what their ministry does; how they create spaces where everyone belongs, no matter their abilities, and how students can be part of that inclusion. They talked about the challenges families with special needs can face, but also the incredible beauty of how God uniquely designs each person with purpose and value. Students were encouraged to see everyone the way Jesus does: with compassion, patience, and love. The conversation highlighted the importance of inclusion, friendship, and being the kind of community where no one feels left out.

Here are some follow up questions you can ask your student(s):

  • What was something that surprised you or stood out to you from hearing the Special Needs Ministry team today?
  • Why do you think inclusion and friendship are so important in the church?
  • What’s one way you can help make someone feel more included or seen this week—at church, school, or somewhere else?
