Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for December 21st, 2025! We opened the hour with a game called Sit Down If: Christmas Edition; it was a quick and easy game to go with since our worship team had a longer set this week with Christmas worship songs!
I taught our high school students this week, Melissa Stein taught middle school. The high school group was in the third of three weeks in a series called Life, the Universe and Everything, middle school was in the final week in a series called How to Survive Middle School.
Life, the Universe and Everything: This series attempts to give students a new framework for reconciling faith and science while exploring the core message of Scripture. This week, we explored what the Bible says about humanity and what it means to be made in the image of God. We learned that faith and science don’t have to be enemies, that people have deep value and purpose, and that God invites us to trust Him even when we don’t have all the answers. Here are some follow up questions you can ask your high school student(s):
- What stood out to you most about what it means to be made in the image of God?
- Did anything in this message change the way you think about faith, science, or creation? Why or why not?
- How does knowing that every person has value and purpose affect the way you treat others this week?
How to Survive Middle School: This week, we talked about the power of words and how what we say today shapes our future. Using Proverbs and James, we learned that words can bring life or cause real damage, especially through gossip, sarcasm, and careless speech. we were challenged to take ownership of our words, knowing that what comes out of our mouths reveals what’s in our hearts and can either build others up or tear them down. Here are some follow up questions you can ask your middle school student(s):
- What’s one example of how words can bring life, or cause harm, at school or online?
- Was there anything in the message that made you rethink how you joke, gossip, or talk about others?
- What’s one way you could intentionally use your words to encourage someone this week?
