2025 McNutt Family Christmas Letter

Another Family Christmas Letter where no actual letters are being sent. It’s like I don’t even know how this is supposed to work.

2025 has been a big year for our family! Here’s the recap:

Micah is 24 and graduated last May from the University of Delaware. It’s wild to think he’s finished already – time really does fly. He’s currently working at Boro Cafe while he considers his next steps. He’s grown a lot over the years; Heather and I are really proud of him! Without the looming deadlines of school work, he’s also been reading a lot more which has been fun to see.

Caleb is 22 and in his second to last year at Salisbury University. He’s majoring in Communications and has discovered he really enjoys the process of editing and putting together news segments for his classes. He still plays rugby … but doesn’t have as much time for it as he used to as he and Marissa spend all of their free time line dancing.

Noah is turning 20 next month which is wild. Last June he graduated from Concord High School and this fall he began culinary school at Del Tech. He’s absolutely loving his classes and enjoying the restaurant experience he’s getting cooking at Taverna Rustic Italian restaurant. Last June he went on the mission trip to Belize with me and is currently volunteering as a sixth grade small group leader in our student ministry.

Zach is 17 and a junior in high school. Last June he went on a mission trip to Puerto Rico which was a real highlight for him. He has continued serving on the stage crew in the Concord High School theater program. He’s been promoted to stage manager and has been loving it. He talks about possibly pursuing college in this area as a future career.

Heather has been working in dining services at Springer Middle School and volunteering in our church’s special needs ministry. She’s also been taking sign language lessons to better serve children in our church. She’s also jumped in as a small group leader in our student ministry this past year! Heather and I celebrated our 25th anniversary last November … we’re not that old are we?

I graduated from Palmer Theological Seminary this past May with my Doctor of Ministry in Contextual Leadership. Yes, I am officially the Reverend Doctor Matthew McNutt now. I’ve been continuing to create youth ministry resources, speak at conferences, and am currently working on a book proposal.

We’re down to two guinea pigs, Chewy and Sheb. According to the vet, at almost six years old they are geriatric, a term I find shocking and offensive (they are at the upper end of the average lifespan). They still continue to lose their minds every time someone opens the fridge and they find Heather to be the easiest to beg for treats from.

And yes, I’m no longer the tallest. Noah has had that title for more than a year now.
