Sunday Recap | February 15

Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for February 15th, 2026! In honor of the Winter Olympics we played Curling, Curling or Curling, a game Heather and I made. We gave away a Renew Student Conference t-shirt to the winner!

We had a few announcements/reminders:

  • Don’t miss small groups this week! Middle School on Wednesday, High School on Thursday, both 6:30-8:00pm.
  • The Renew Student Conference is coming! It’s going to be absolutely amazing this year with amazing teaching, great worship, and America’s Got Talent winner Dustin Tavella performing Friday night! More information here.
  • Construction starts this week on the church renovations! For the next month or so, students will only be able to get to small groups and the Sunday student hour through the west wing (gym) parking lot entrance. The Connection Cafe area will be worked on so people will not be able to pass through that area.

We continued with our fourth of four weeks in Isaiah; while both middle school and high school are covering Isaiah, each series is different. I taught high school, Rebekah taught middle school. Here are the summaries and follow up questions you can ask your student(s):

High School: Isaiah: The Suffering Servant | A Call to be Made Whole. We studied Isaiah 52:13–53:12, a prophecy written centuries before Jesus’ arrival that describes a Servant who would suffer and die for the sins of others. Students learned that Jesus’ death was not an accident, but a willing act of love to bring forgiveness and restore people to God. The key takeaway was that God chose sacrifice, not power, to save the world. Students were encouraged to reflect on what it means to personally trust Jesus for forgiveness and wholeness. Here are some follow up questions you can ask your student(s):

  • What stood out to you most about Isaiah 53 and how it connects to Jesus?
  • What do you think it means that Jesus suffered “in our place”?
  • When you think about guilt, shame, or feeling like something is missing, where do you usually turn for help?

Middle School: Isaiah: Experiencing God in Real Ways | The Ultimate Purpose. This final week focused on the Bible and how in the midst of an ever-changing culture, the Word of God stands the test of time. Scripture is the revelation of who God is, how much God loves us, and what God desires from us. Melissa challenged students to recognize the benefits of studying God’s Word and the value of applying its truths to their lives. Here are some follow up questions you can ask your student(s):

  • Why do you think God chose the written word to be one of the primary ways to convey his message to humanity?
  • If we believe the truths of God’s Word are truly more precious than gold or silver, how will that affect the way we read and obey the Bible?
  • How can we make God’s Word more central in the life of our family?

You can watch the high school lesson below, or you can listen to it on our podcast feed (we had a glitch with the middle school recording so it’s not available this week):
