Sunday Recap | August 30

Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for August 30th, 2026! Jacob Anderson, one of our seniors, led the game this week with a fun wig snatching face-off game! Our teaching time continued our series in Philippians, taught by Jacob with the high school students, and Lyle Vonner, one of our sophomore, taught the middle school group!

We had a few announcements/reminders:

  • The Fall Retreats are coming! Technically the signup deadline is past … but the form will be open a little longer so don’t wait! The high school retreat is September 11-13, the middle school retreat is September 25-27. Click here to get all the information and sign up.
  • Our small groups are kicking THIS week! Middle School on Sept 2, High School on Sept 3; both meet from 6:30-8:00pm.
  • Download our app! It has our event calendar, updates, photos, social links, podcast feed, video feed, and more! Find it on the Apple app store and Google Play store!
  • Construction is continuing. Students can get to the Sunday student hour and other student events through the main entrance. Just follow the signs!

This week we were in the third of four weeks in Philippians. We talked about priorities. Paul had every credential his culture valued and walked away from all of it. He says that knowing Jesus made everything else look worthless by comparison. We challenged students to honestly examine what they’re chasing and whether it can actually deliver what they’re really looking for. Here are some follow up question you can ask your student(s):

  • Paul says he wants to know Jesus, not just know about Him. What do you think the difference between those two things looks like in everyday life?
  • What’s something in your life right now that you might be clinging to more than you’re clinging to Jesus?
