Sunday Recap | September 6

Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for September 6th, 2026! I was preaching in the main worship services so Melissa was in charge with the students. She led a game and opened the time. Our teaching time wrapped up our series in Philippians, taught by Matt Spanakos with the high school students, and Ryan Hayes taught the middle school group.

We had a few announcements/reminders:

  • Starting next Sunday, Student Quest will be combined in the Loft temporarily while construction displaces Adult Christian Ed into the gym.
  • Download our app! It has our event calendar, updates, photos, social links, podcast feed, video feed, and more! Find it on the Apple app store and Google Play store!
  • Construction is continuing. Students can get to the Sunday student hour and other student events through the main entrance. Just follow the signs!

This week we were in the fourth of four weeks in Philippians. This week we talked about about focus. Paul closes his letter with a direct instruction about what to do with your thought life: fix your mind on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Matt and Ryan helped students understand that following Jesus isn’t just about what you’re running away from. It’s about what you’re running toward. Here are some follow up question you can ask your student(s):

  • Paul gives a list of things worth fixing your mind on: true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable. Which word stands out to you most and why?
  • What’s one thing you could do this week to be more intentional about what you’re putting in front of your mind?
