Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for September 20th, 2026! It was the first week we were all combined in the Loft while adult classes use the gym … construction disruptions are a fun challenge! We played a game I recently made called Ear Say; basically, there’s gibberish on the screen and kids try to figure out the phrase it sounds like! Our teaching time kicked off a three week series in Titus that I am teaching.
We had a few announcements/reminders:
- Student Quest is temporarily combined in the Loft while construction displaces Adult Christian Ed into the gym.
- Download our app! It has our event calendar, updates, photos, social links, podcast feed, video feed, and more! Find it on the Apple app store and Google Play store!
- Construction is continuing. Students can get to the Sunday student hour and other student events through the main entrance. Just follow the signs!
This week we kicked off our new series Out of Place, a three-week look at Paul’s letter to Titus. Paul left Titus on the island of Crete, a place with such a rough reputation that even its own poet called its people “liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons” (Titus 1:12). Instead of pulling Titus out of a hard place, God’s plan was to have him stay, grow strong in his faith, and raise up others right in the middle of the mess. We challenged students with this bottom line: You are where God wants you to be. Whether it’s a difficult class, a hard team, a lonely lunch table, or a challenging job, students were encouraged to stop waiting for life to get easier before taking their faith seriously, and to start asking God why He has them where they are. (hard places and harmful places are not the same thing. If your student is being hurt or bullied, we told them to talk to a trusted adult) Here are some follow up question you can ask your student(s):
- Where’s your “Crete” right now, the place in your life that feels hardest or most challenging?
- If God has you there for a reason, what do you think it might be? Have you asked Him?
- What’s one thing that would help you be “strong in the faith” in that place this week and how can I help?
