Sunday Recap | August 16

Time for the Student Quest Sunday recap for August 16th, 2026! We played a game called Say It On Beat which absolutely crushed with the group. We’ll definitely be playing this one again! Our teaching time kicked off our first of four weeks in Philippians, taught by Melissa Stein. Jayden, one of our summer interns, taught middle school this week!

We had a few announcements/reminders:

  • The Fall Retreats are coming! Register by August 30th. The high school retreat is September 11-13, the middle school retreat is September 25-27. Click here to get all the information and sign up.
  • Download our app! It has our event calendar, updates, photos, social links, podcast feed, video feed, and more! Find it on the Apple app store and Google Play store!
  • Construction is continuing. Students can get to the Sunday student hour and other student events through the main entrance. Just follow the signs!

This week we were in the first of four weeks in Philippians. Melissa Stein taught the high school group. She spoke about purpose. Paul wrote Philippians from a prison cell, and yet somehow every word of the letter is marked by joy and forward momentum. She explored how Paul’s circumstances didn’t limit what God was doing through him, and challenged students to consider that God might already be at work in the middle of whatever mess they’re carrying right now. Here are some follow up question you can ask your student(s):

  • Paul said that everything that had happened to him had helped spread the gospel. What’s a difficult situation in your life that turned out to lead somewhere good?
  • What’s one thing you’re carrying right now that you haven’t thought about bringing to God? What would it look like to ask Him to use it??
