Difference between parents and teens

So, last week I had to cancel small groups because of snow, ice, freezing weather, etc.  I hate making that call!  But I got a kick out of two responses to my mass text message blast – they came within seconds of each other, both unaware of the other.  The first is the mom, the second is her eighth grade son (his school hadn’t been cancelled that day, only delayed):

Good call! Jake will be bummed but better safe than sorry! I can’t imagine the worry I’d have if he was driving there!!! 😉

What?!?!? We can have school but no small groups???

I have to admit, it made me laugh!

  1. Ahhhhh!!!!! Too funny! But maybe it shows also how alike we are on some level. We both are addicted to our phones!

But most of all youth group is important to him just like it was to me years ago. And fortunately for him he has a youth pastor that he really enjoys just like I did years ago!

Last night he came home talking about how you raced him in some chicken, er I mean bird fighting game! =)

Thanks again for all you do!

  2. It was an epic battle. In the end I lost because I'm too big/heavy for the game – I have no balance and kept toppling! It's called 'bird fight,' and it involves everyone squatting, grabbing their ankles, and then bobbing around trying to knock everyone over without letting go of their ankles or letting their butts hit the floor. It's a lot of fun, and one of Jake's favorite games … but my calves are sore!!!
