HINGE is the second book to be released under the McNutt Ministry Resources banner! It's a collection of four different curriculum series I created that focus on hot button issues ... they're the topics that often times become hinge points for young people's faith. Faith and Science. Sexuality and Identity. Race. Money. These are the … Continue reading Introducing HINGE

Letting Teens Teach

August 24, 2026August 24, 2026 ~ Matthew McNutt ~ Leave a comment

We regularly let students teach in our student ministry. I believe it's far more beneficial for the one getting the experience of teaching than it is for the rest of the group to have a more experienced teacher every week. Why? The one teaching learns far more in those moments, they integrate the material far … Continue reading Letting Teens Teach

Introducing Threshold Volume One

August 18, 2026August 18, 2026 ~ Matthew McNutt ~ Leave a comment

What is Threshold Volume One, the first book I've released under the McNutt Ministry Resources banner? In short, it is seventeen weeks of curriculum working through the first five books of the Bible. But it feels like more than that to me. For the past couple decades I've been operating from a seven year teaching … Continue reading Introducing Threshold Volume One

Speaking at Gordon College

August 10, 2026August 10, 2026 ~ Matthew McNutt ~ Leave a comment

Last March I had the privilege of speaking at Gordon College's chapel ... honestly, it's been a bucket list item for me to speak there. As a student, and to this day, the chapel was and is my favorite place on campus. I was heavily involved in it all four years as a student and … Continue reading Speaking at Gordon College

We celebrated 26 years at Capers and Lemons - our waitress surprised us with a sparkler on our dessert!
Happy Birthday, Micah! I can’t believe you’re already 25! I’m proud of who you are and who you are becoming!
Costume nights at small groups with the fam!
This was a shock to learn today. I was 12 when Star Trek The Next Generation premiered with Patrick Stewart playing Captain Picard of the Enterprise. I was immediately a fan. Decades later, Heather and I got to come face to face with him at a convention. It was a brief encounter but he made us feel seen and it's one of my Star Trek highlights. It says a lot about him that everyone that has worked with him loves him.
Sheb passed away yesterday. At six and a half years old, she had a long life for a Guinea Pig. She was the most curious of our little herd, always wanting to explore our house and see what we were doing. She loved to cuddle, whether with her mom and sister when they were alive or with us. She was always my favorite … which is why she showed up in my feeds more often than her siblings. We could tell something was wrong yesterday so we each took turns holding her. She sat with me for an hour or so. In recent months I was giving her medication every morning for her arthritis … she was always excited to get it (probably because it was always followed by a carrot) … it felt really strange to not wake up and do that this morning. I never realized how much personality these little creatures could have!
Another Star Trek legend is gone. As a lifelong fan, it’s hard to hear that Walter Koenig has passed. He was perhaps the best of the original cast at telling stories from the making of Trek and answering fan questions - I loved hearing him at conventions.
